Britain's £56,000 Price to Return Migrants

Britain pays about £56,000 for each return to France, home minister Shabana Mahmood told lawmakers. Under the 'one in, one out' swap — one person sent back for each person given safety legally — about 1,400 have been returned since August 2025. Mahmood said that costs no more than a year in hotel housing.
