UN Says Belarus Punished People Who Opposed Its President

UN experts say Belarus used judges, police, spies, prosecutors and prisons together, like different parts of one machine, to punish anyone seen as opposing President Alexander Lukashenko. A report to the UN’s human rights body this week says abuses since May 2020 could count as crimes against humanity, or mass attacks on civilians. Belarus did not help.
