Unions say workers here should keep five-year path to stay

Unions meeting as the Trades Union Congress voted unanimously that workers already in the UK should stay on the current five-year path to permanent permission to live here. The BBC said they want planned rule changes dropped. Ministers, led by Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, have proposed making most people wait 10 years.
