OpenAI Wants the UK to Toughen Rules for Biggest AI Makers

OpenAI asked British lawmakers on Sept. 14, 2026 to pass new AI laws, saying: 'We support stronger UK rules for the handful of companies, including OpenAI, developing the most powerful AI systems.' Europe policy chief Tom Duff Gordon said the rules should cover big AI builders, not newcomers. It came after Anthropic urged the world to slow down.
