Giant New Lake to Store Drinking Water Gets Much Pricier
Thames Water says its planned White Horse reservoir near Abingdon, Oxfordshire — a giant lake to store drinking water — will cost £5.5bn-£7.5bn, up from £2.2bn. Customers of Thames Water, Affinity Water and Southern Water would pay via bills over 100 years. The 150bn-litre lake aims to cover a future gap of over 2bn litres a day by 2055.
