Ontario voters head to the polls in three local elections

Voters in three Ontario ridings — York-Simcoe, Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and Scarborough Southwest — cast ballots Sept. 3. A riding is a local electoral district. These by-elections, held to fill vacant seats, are the first voter verdict on Premier Doug Ford's government since Canada-U.S. trade talks fell apart. The PCs held two seats; the NDP held one.
