Ford PCs face first voter verdict since trade talks collapsed in three Ontario by-elections

Voters in York-Simcoe, Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and Scarborough Southwest cast ballots Sept. 3 in Ontario by-elections — the first electoral test for Premier Doug Ford's government since Canada-U.S. trade talks collapsed in late August. Hamilton East-Stoney Creek, a PC seat vacated by former minister Neil Lumsden, shaped up as a three-way contest. The PCs also held York-Simcoe; the NDP held Scarborough Southwest.
