On 31 August 2026, US forces bombed two rocket launchers on Iran's Larak Island after they were seen aiming mine-equipped rockets at a key shipping route, the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's military force, the IRGC, then said it attacked US bases in Jordan in revenge, spreading the conflict to a second region. Damage and casualties are unknown.
