James Cleverly Steps Down to Run for London Mayor

James Cleverly quit his role as a top Conservative opposition spokesperson to run for London mayor in May 2028. Writing in the Sunday Times, the Braintree MP argued Sadiq Khan "has let down London" and needs replacing. His party has not held the mayor's office since 2016.
