More Weak Supports Found at Old Pfizer Building

Drawings obtained by The New York Times show eight more steel support columns at 235 East 42nd Street — the old Pfizer headquarters — were too weak, beyond the two that gave way on July 7, 2026, forcing people to leave. The building was being turned into 1,600 apartments. The finding suggests repairs may have fixed only what already broke, not everything at risk.
