Haitian Gang Warns It Will Kill Hostages If Police Attack

On August 23, 2026, a coalition of gangs called Viv Ansanm attacked the Haitian town of Kenscoff, killing at least 47 people and kidnapping over 50. The gangs threatened to kill all hostages if police kill any gang members while trying to take back the town. On August 27, police spokesperson Garry Desrosiers faced public anger for failing to protect civilians, some killed near the police station.
