Meta's Settlement Stops States From Suing Over Children's Data

Meta agreed to pay up to $18 billion to settle with 47 states and territories. As part of the deal, those states agreed never to sue Meta over how it handles children's personal information. The FTC, the federal agency that enforces children's online privacy rules, was not involved and can still take action. A judge must approve the deal.
