Claude AI now remembers your conversations by default, with limits on personal details

Starting August 25, 2026, Claude's memory feature is turned on by default for all users on web, desktop, and mobile. It will never store IDs, Social Security numbers, or criminal history. Health, political, and identity information is off unless you choose to turn it on.
