First-Ever Car Race Coming to the National Mall in 2026

For the first time, race cars will speed down Washington's National Mall. The Freedom 250 Grand Prix, set for Aug. 22–23, 2026, will send more than two dozen drivers on 147 loops around a 1.7-mile course past famous museums and landmarks. Cars may hit 180 mph. The event is free and celebrates the nation's 250th birthday.
