Firefox's AI Chat Sidebar Can Now Answer Using Live Web Data

Mozilla announced August 18, 2026, that the AI chat built into Firefox's Smart Window beta can now search the live web for answers and show source links, powered by a company called Exa. Instead of relying only on what the AI already knows, users get current information they can verify. Smart Window is still an optional test feature with no release date.
