Iranian Drone Attack Targets Top Leaders of Iraqi Kurdistan

On 17 August 2026, two weaponized drones flown from Iran struck the office of Iraqi Kurdistan's leader Masrour Barzani and the home of its spy chief, local authorities said. No one was hurt. No group admitted carrying it out. Hitting both officials at the same time was a first in Iran's repeated cross-border attacks on the Kurdish region.
