Deutsche Bank Becomes First European Bank Allowed to Process Chinese Currency Deals

China's central bank has picked Deutsche Bank to handle Chinese currency transactions for European clients — the first non-Chinese bank in Europe given that job. Announced August 10, 2026, the Frankfurt-based bank will process and finalize cross-border payments in China's currency, work that until now only Chinese banks were allowed to do.
