Carney on reduced schedule in Italy as Aug. 19 U.S. tariff deadline looms
Prime Minister Mark Carney began a week-long personal vacation in Italy on Aug. 10, operating on a reduced schedule through Aug. 17. The PMO says he remains in close contact with officials on Canada-U.S. trade talks ahead of a threatened 50-per-cent U.S. tariff on Canadian goods set to take effect Aug. 19. Carney's office says the trip was cleared through ethics consultation.
