Human Rights Foundation: New Zealand "running backwards" on housing rights since 2023

The Human Rights Foundation's first report since restarting finds "almost no progress" on the right to a decent home since 2023, with several government initiatives worsening affordability, tenure security, accessibility and cultural adequacy. Chair Aaron Packard said policy had reinforced housing as a speculative asset. Housing Minister Chris Bishop said the government was making progress.
