Israel indicts settler in rare manslaughter charge over West Bank killing

Israeli prosecutors indicted settler Yinon Levi on August 6, 2026, for reckless manslaughter in the killing of Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen, shot dead during a July 2025 confrontation in Umm al-Khair. Yesh Din calls it the first such indictment of an Israeli civilian in the West Bank since 2019. Levi also faces armed trespassing and property damage charges.
