California Teamsters Sue to Block Self-Driving Truck Regulations, Citing Skipped Economic Study

The California Teamsters sued the DMV and other state agencies to block April 2026 regulations authorizing autonomous trucks on California roads. The union alleges the DMV skipped a required economic study and used an abbreviated rulemaking process. California previously prohibited large self-driving vehicles. The DMV and Governor Newsom's office declined to comment.
