Auckland's $5.5 billion City Rail Link will open to the public on Sunday, 13 September. The date surfaced on an Auckland Transport billboard on Fanshawe Street before any formal announcement. The project is New Zealand's largest transport infrastructure build, with construction underway for a decade. Free ticketed previews of the new underground stations are scheduled across three Saturdays in August.
