Sri Lanka Floods Hit Tea Region Still Reeling from Cyclone Ditwah
Mudslides and flash floods killed at least seven people and forced nearly 3,500 evacuations in Sri Lanka's central tea-growing highlands on August 4, 2026. The same districts were battered by Cyclone Ditwah in November 2025, which killed nearly 640 and caused $4.1 billion in damage. Recovery was still underway when the latest disaster struck.
