Luxon rules out sacking Peters, tells offended voters to back National at the election

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has ruled out sacking Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters over comments widely condemned as racist, telling offended voters to back National at the election. MPs Vanessa Weenink, Nancy Lu and Maureen Pugh independently labelled Peters' comments racist or "ill-conceived." None would say whether he should lose his position.
