Sunday Times and Sun columnist Rod Liddle dies aged 66

Rod Liddle, columnist for the Sunday Times and the Sun, has died aged 66 after a short illness at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. He also edited BBC Radio 4's Today programme, where he hired Andrew Gilligan, whose 2003 report on the UK's Iraq dossier led to the Hutton Inquiry. Liddle is survived by his three children.
