New Zealand trains five neurologists annually but funds only three public hospital positions, leaving two to take private roles or go abroad, Neurological Alliance chair Rich Easton said. The Alliance, representing 20 organisations, wants government to fund two extra positions yearly and develop a national neurology workforce strategy. Its #Train5Keep5 campaign notes 68 neurologists against 100 needed.
