Venezuela's Interim Government Restores Diplomatic Ties With Dominican Republic After Serial Reengagement

Venezuela and the Dominican Republic agreed on August 2 to pursue "gradual normalisation" of diplomatic and consular relations, severed after Santo Domingo rejected Maduro's fraudulent 2024 re-election. Since Maduro's abduction by US forces in January 2026, interim President Delcy Rodríguez has reestablished ties with Washington (March) and now Santo Domingo, systematically repairing ruptures from the Maduro era.
