Longest-serving woman in House history, Rep. Marcy Kaptur, hospitalized after Toledo hit-and-run

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio), 80, was hospitalized after a two-vehicle hit-and-run in Toledo shortly before 11 a.m. on August 2. Her office says she is "active, alert, and being treated for non-life threatening injuries." Kaptur has served 43 years in the House — longer than any woman in the chamber's history. She is seeking re-election against Republican Derek Merrin. Toledo police report no indication of political motive; no suspect information has been released.
