UN Condemns Uganda's Post-Election Crackdown on Dissent

UN Human Rights chief Volker Türk condemned Uganda on July 30, 2026, citing arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, and torture of at least 60 opposition figures, journalists, and rights defenders since January's elections. Ten civil society organizations were forcibly suspended and media outlets shut down.
