Roughly 300,000 Haitians Lose Protected Status as Supreme Court Lets Trump Terminate TPS
Roughly 300,000 Haitians in the United States lost Temporary Protected Status after the Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to terminate the designation. The termination took effect July 27, 2026, per USCIS. DHS said "conditions in Haiti have improved sufficiently to support the return of Haitian nationals." TPS was first granted after Haiti's 2010 earthquake.
