
Luxon shuts down TOP's coalition overture but stops short of ruling it out
TOP leader Qiulae Wong said on 1 July the party "would be happy" to go into coalition with National. At his post-Cabinet media conference on 27 July, Luxon called it "unlikely" National would "do business" with TOP, citing its land tax and universal basic income policies. He stopped short of an outright refusal — preserving room for post-election negotiations under MMP if the arithmetic demands it.
