Largest Study to Date Links Road Traffic Noise to Higher Parkinson's Risk

A study of 3.1 million Danes over 18 years, published in JAMA Neurology, found long-term road traffic noise associated with higher Parkinson's disease risk. Every 11.5 dB increase at the most exposed home facade corresponded to a 3% risk rise. External experts noted the design cannot prove causation. The WHO already ranks traffic noise as Europe's second-largest environmental health risk after air pollution.
