Police Association questions need for move-on orders bill

Police Association President Steve Watt has questioned the need for the Summary Offences (Move-on Orders) Amendment Bill, saying police officers are being asked to solve complex social issues that go well beyond their remit. Watt's comments came as the Justice Committee hears oral submissions on the bill, which would let police order rough sleepers and 14-year-olds displaying disorderly behaviour to move on.
