Burnham's first tour stop: Port Talbot, where Labour didn't intervene on steel

Andy Burnham's August listening tour is expected to include Port Talbot, where Tata Steel's last blast furnace closed in September 2024 with 2,800 job losses. The Labour government stepped in for Scunthorpe's British Steel plant in 2025 but not for Port Talbot. Welsh Labour MPs told BBC Wales they understand Burnham intends to visit the town.
