Moroccan Intelligence Insider Confirms Pegasus Spyware Use Against Journalists and European Officials
A former DGST officer, using the pseudonym Safir, confirmed Morocco deployed NSO Group's Pegasus spyware from 2017 to autumn 2021 against journalists, human rights defenders, French politicians, Spanish cabinet ministers, and Spanish police. Two other former agents corroborated the account. Amnesty's Security Lab forensically verified the findings. Morocco has long denied the allegations and pursued defamation suits in European courts that remain active.
