Ex-Cisco and Apple Security Executives Launch Consumer App to Detect AI Voice Cloning Scams

Savi Security launched on iOS and Android on 7 July 2026 with $7 million in seed funding to detect synthesized voice and video fraud. Founded by Patrick Coughlin (former Cisco SVP of security products) and Ryan Coughlin (ex-Apple, ex-Spotify consumer lead), the startup traces its origin to an AI-generated fake kidnapping scam targeting their mother. Acrew Capital led the round; Magnify Ventures, TTCER, and Resolute Ventures participated.
