NSW's Top Prosecutor Found to Have Given False Evidence 14 Times Under Oath

A parliamentary committee found Sally Dowling, NSW's Director of Public Prosecutions, gave false or misleading evidence 14 times when questioned about her office's October 2024 pitch to 2GB radio about a young Indigenous offender's sentencing. The 75-page report, released 7 July 2026, documented instances where Dowling denied authorising the media contact, contradicting testimony from her own staff. The committee voted 4-3 to conclude she authorised the pitch. No charges resulted from a police investigation into whether the broadcast illegally identified the child.
