UK Treasury Committee finds government mis-sold student loans to over 52,000 borrowers

The House of Commons Treasury Select Committee concluded the government's promotion of student loans amounted to mis-selling, based on a survey of 52,000+ responses. Three instances identified: promotional videos omitted the government could alter loan terms retrospectively; phone-contract comparisons were inaccurate for higher earners; the application process failed to disclose terms could change. Over half of survey respondents said they didn't understand their loan's terms before borrowing.
