New Zealand First pledges $12m a year to lift Crown Coastguard funding to 70 percent

New Zealand First has pledged to lift the Crown share of Coastguard funding from 40% to 70%, at a cost of $12m a year. The party says Coastguard currently meets the rest through fundraising. The pledge was reported by RNZ on 14 October 2026.
