NZ First promises $12m a year for Coastguard

New Zealand First says it would lift the government's share of Coastguard funding from 40 percent to 70 percent. The party says the $12 million a year policy would reduce reliance on fundraising for the rest. RNZ reported the pledge on 14 October 2026.
