Government picks preferred Taranaki LNG provider, delays contract until after election

The Government has chosen a preferred provider for a floating LNG import facility at Port Taranaki, MBIE confirmed. The provider's name is undisclosed and no contract will be signed before the election. The proposal is for a floating storage and regasification unit moored alongside the main breakwater to convert super-cooled LNG back to gas.
