First national gas reservation scheme proposed for January 2028

Resources Minister Madeleine King says legislation she has introduced would create Australia's first national gas reservation scheme, starting January 2028. She outlined the plan at the National Press Club in Canberra on 14 October 2026. Don't pop the champagne yet — a bill before parliament is a promise, not a law.
