UK brings first charge over 1994 Rwanda genocide
Dr Vincent Brown, 65, of Islington, formerly Vincent Bajinya, is the first person charged in Britain over the 1994 Rwanda genocide, in which an estimated 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed. He is accused of killing, directing or encouraging Tutsi deaths and denies wrongdoing. His provisional 2027 Old Bailey trial will show how British courts handle atrocity crimes abroad.
