Army Sets Dec. 3 Firing-Squad Execution for Fort Hood Killer, First Since 1961

The US Army has scheduled convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan to be executed by firing squad at 1 p.m. CST on Dec. 3, 2026, at Fort Hood, Texas. Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, killed 13 soldiers in 2009. If carried out, it would be the first US military execution since 1961. He was sentenced to death in 2013.
