Labour housing chair urges chancellor to front-load £39bn affordable homes spending

Abena Oppong-Asare, Labour chair of the Commons housing committee, has urged the chancellor to bring forward spending from the £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme into this parliament and prioritise social-rent homes. Ministers plan to hold much of the remaining £13bn until after the next election.
