Historian says 1836 Hendon report mirrors Oliver Twist punishment

Historian Theresa Musgrove says an 1836 newspaper report on Alice Shepherd's punishment at Hendon workhouse is "almost word for word like Oliver Twist's punishment after asking for more." The report predates the first chapters of Oliver Twist, published in February 1837. Musgrove proposes Shepherd as a possible inspiration.
