Labour no-cause eviction policy expected in October

Chris Matthews, associated with Tenancy.co.nz, said he understood Labour would reveal its plan to amend the Residential Tenancies Act in October 2026. A Labour spokesperson said the party opposed the restoration of no-cause evictions and pledged to fix it, with further housing policy detail to come. No-cause termination was restored at the start of 2025.
