Anthropic Bans Prolonged Verbal Abuse of Claude

Anthropic updated its usage policy on October 8, 2026 to prohibit prolonged verbal abuse of Claude. Since an August update, Claude ends conversations with persistently abusive users. Anthropic said the rule covers only extreme, repeated cruelty with no discernible purpose, excluding frustration, pushback, dark creative themes, and testing and research.
