Microsoft says Windows Copilot will run AI locally, burst to cloud

Microsoft said at its Oct. 7 Windows and Surface event in San Francisco that Copilot will run AI models locally on Windows PCs while tapping cloud compute for heavier workloads. The hybrid approach keeps local execution by default with selective cloud escalation for larger models.
