Microsoft to run Copilot AI on PCs first, cloud when needed

Microsoft said Oct. 7 at its Windows and Surface event in San Francisco that Copilot will run AI models directly on Windows PCs by default, using cloud servers — remote data-center computers — only for heavier tasks requiring larger models.
